Clinician and Educator Rafael Campo, M.D., Takes on New Role

Rafael Campo, M.D., professor of clinical medicine and currently director of employee health and infection control, has been named Chief Patient Safety and Quality Officer for the University of Miami Health System (UHealth) at the Miller School. In his new position, Campo will head up the newly created UHealth Patient Safety and Quality Office.

UM and Israel’s Planned Medical School Begin Collaboration

Led by UM President Donna E. Shalala, a delegation of Miller School officials recently concluded a successful week of high-level meetings in Israel aimed at identifying areas of collaboration and synergy with Bar-Ilan University as Israel’s largest and fastest growing university establishes the nation’s fifth medical school.

Miller School Students Honor Faculty Members with 2010 George Paff Teaching Awards

Before a dozen faculty members were recognized with the 2010 George Paff Teaching Awards, Alex J. Mechaber, M.D., associate dean for undergraduate medical education, presented a slide show to remind award recipients and other audience members of Paff’s impressive career as a Miller School educator.
