Center for Patient Safety Training Videos

The following videos are used to illustrate the importance of communication skills.  Training videos are one of the many tools used with medical students, nurses, residents, and physicians.
The videos were developed and filmed by the Center for Patient Safety team.  This film illustrates the experiences of a patient, Ms. Anderson, who is about to undergo knee surgery.  Here is a brief history of the patient:
Name: Ms. Christina Anderson
Date of birth: March 17, 1975
Diagnosis: Torn ACL of the right knee
Allergies: Penicillin, Cephalosporin

Scenario One 
After Ms. Anderson arrives at the hospital, she enters the operating room to be prepared for surgery.  She has chosen to receive epidural anesthesia.  The procedure will be performed by an anesthesiologist who is assisted by a nurse.

Scenario Two
Ms. Anderson's surgery was successful.  She is groggy as she is moved from the recovery suite to a patient room.  In this scenario, vital information must be transfered from one team to another.
