Our department's daily routine is focused upon providing exceptional patient care within the framework of the educational program; innovation and education technology projects are actively encouraged and funded. The department is committed to advancing its reputation as the finest, most technologically advanced teaching program in the world. The Miami Center for Patient Safety, Simulation, and Clinical Improvement is a new multi-million dollar entity housed in a new 5000 sq ft facility funded jointly by the department, University, and JMH. It is destined for worldwide acclaim. The Center for Informatics and Perioperative Management makes use of one of the largest anesthesia information system installations (PICIS); it will soon be connected to the largest Cerner Millennium enterprise-wide EMR in the world. The greatest opportunities for clinical research include transplantation, spine surgery, high risk obstetrics, intensive care and trauma. Research is supported by a team of research nurses and statistical personnel. Basic lab space is available for competitively funded investigators. Animal labs run by our faculty - one investigating neuorpathic pain mechanisms in rats, the other novel resuscitation strategies following blunt trauma in large pigs - provide great career opportunities. Mentorship can also be found at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis where basic neuroscience research abounds. The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management is recruiting full-time academic faculty at all ranks, in either tenure or non-tenure track positions. The candidate must be ABA eligible with excellent written board scores or ABA certified. Those with strong academic backgrounds and demonstrated excellence in research or teaching will be given the highest consideration. The University of Miami is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer. Candidates are encouraged to apply by submitting a letter of interest explaining their academic aspirations, a curriculum vitae and three references.
